Facelift

Cosmetic surgery can transform lives. Choosing to have a facelifting procedure is a personal and potentially significant decision.  Understandably there are many questions and uncertainties that can arise. We are here to help you make the right decision.

    • You’ve noticed sagging around the cheeks, jawline, or neck

    • Jowls, deep lines, or skin laxity are affecting your facial definition

    • You’re experiencing volume loss in the mid to lower face

    • You seek a long-lasting solution that enhances but doesn’t alter your natural appearance

    • Non-surgical treatments are no longer sufficient for your rejuvenation goals

As we age, the face changes across three main dimensions:

    • Volume loss, due to bone resorption, fat depletion, and diminished collagen, can lead to flattened cheeks, hollow under-eyes, and sagging at the jawline.

    • Laxity increases in our 50s and 60s as skin loses elasticity and support, resulting in jowls, deep folds, and a sagging neck.

    • Surface quality deteriorates over time, with sun damage, pigmentation, and fine lines becoming more prominent.

  • A facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure that repositions sagging tissue, tightens the underlying muscular structures (SMAS), and removes excess skin to restore a smoother, more lifted appearance to the lower face and neck.

    This procedure can:

    • Tighten loose skin and define the jawline

    • Improve mid- and lower-face sagging

    • Recontour the neck and reduce jowls

    • Restore facial proportions for a fresher, more youthful look

    • Deliver long-lasting, natural results with discreet scarring

For optimal outcomes, a facelift is often combined with complementary procedures such as blepharoplasty, brow lift, cheek lift, or skin resurfacing, tailored to your unique facial anatomy and goals.

  • Performed under general anaesthesia, a facelift typically involves incisions placed along the hairline, around the ears, and sometimes under the chin to access deeper facial structures.

The SMAS layer is lifted and tightened, excess fat may be repositioned or removed, and skin is gently redraped. The result is a rejuvenated appearance that avoids an "overdone" look.

Surgical time varies depending on the complexity of the procedure and any combined treatments. Most facelifts are outpatient procedures, though an overnight stay may be advised in some cases.

    • A more youthful, refined facial silhouette

    • Lifted and firmer skin in the lower face and neck

    • Improved facial volume and harmony

    • Long-lasting rejuvenation, typically lasting 8–10 years

    • Minimal scarring, strategically hidden within natural contours

Initial swelling and bruising are expected and usually subside within 2–3 weeks.
You may resume light activities after 7–10 days and return to normal routines after 2–3 weeks, depending on your recovery progress.

Important to note: A facelift does not treat skin texture, pigmentation, or fine wrinkles. These are best addressed with complementary non-surgical treatments such as chemical peels, laser therapy, or radiofrequency skin resurfacing. During your consultation, we’ll help you build a comprehensive facial rejuvenation plan suited to your needs.

Types of Facelifts

  • A micro facelift is a minimally invasive procedure designed to enhance and rejuvenate the appearance of the lower third of the face, addressing signs of aging such as sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Unlike other facelifts, which involve more extensive surgery and longer recovery times, a micro facelift focuses on targeted areas with smaller incisions and less tissue disruption.

As a result, a natural, lifted and rejuvenated look is achieved with downtime of a matter of days. The procedure is ideal for individuals in their 30s to 50s who are beginning to notice early signs of aging but do not yet require a full facelift.

The procedure itself can be carried out under local anaesthesia and sedation and typically lasts around 45 minutes.

  • An endoscopic facelift is an advanced, minimally invasive surgical technique that lifts and rejuvenates the face using small incisions and an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera).

Precise adjustments to the underlying facial structures are made through tiny incisions hidden in the hairline or mouth.

The procedure enables elevation of sagging cheeks and jowls, smoothing of nasolabial folds, tightening of neck muscles and repositioning of facial fat pads.

This procedure offers subtle, natural-looking results with reduced scarring and recovery time.

This innovative approach forms the foundation of The Snatched Lift, our exclusive, next-generation endoscopic facelift for refined, natural rejuvenation.

  • This is another procedure that addresses skin laxity and contour in the lower face and neck.

While the procedure addresses both the deep tissue and skin of the face, tissue manoeuvres are limited as it involves only a short scar.

However downtime can be reduced to a week or so.

This procedure is not suitable for people with heavy necks.

  • A full facelift, or traditional facelift, is a surgical procedure for patients with moderate to advanced signs of aging.

The full facelift addresses sagging cheeks and the midface region, as well as the lower face, jowls and jawline, and in some cases, the neck.

  • This is a more involved and sophisticated surgical procedure that that can only be performed by a specialist and experienced facial plastic surgeon.

Whereas a traditional facelift primarily focusses on lifting the skin, the deep plane facelift targets the deeper layers of facial muscles and tissues, enabling more substantial lifting and repositioning of the facial structures.

The deep plane facelift delivers more impressive results and more youthful and harmonious appearance, with  longevity of results. However, the deep plane facelift is associated with 2-3 weeks of downtime.

  • For people with heavy necks that extend all the way down to the chest, and heavy deep jowls extending to the smile lines and corners of the mouth, an extended version of a full facelift is employed.

Unlike traditional facelifts that mainly focus on the lower face, an extended facelift is an advanced technique that targets multiple areas including the midface, jawline, and neck and involves repositioning deeper facial tissues not just the skin. For enhanced neck definition, additional incisions under the chin may be made to remove excess fat, tighten muscles, and smooth out skin.

An extended facelift provides a more harmonious and longer-lasting rejuvenation.

Fully Ablative Laser Resurfacing and Rejuvenation

An advanced, non-surgical facial rejuvenation technique that resurfaces the skin, tightens tissue, and stimulates collagen production, delivering dramatic improvements in skin quality, texture, and firmness.

    • You have deep lines, wrinkles, or crepey skin, particularly around the eyes and mouth

    • You’re noticing laxity and reduced elasticity in your facial skin

    • Your skin texture has become uneven or rough due to sun damage or aging

    • You want transformative results without undergoing surgery

    • You’re seeking a long-term solution for advanced signs of skin aging

  • Fully ablative laser resurfacing is the most intensive non-invasive option available for facial rejuvenation. It removes the outermost layers of damaged skin and initiates deep collagen renewal, revealing a smoother, firmer, and more radiant complexion.

    This treatment can:

    • Significantly reduce wrinkles and fine lines

    • Improve skin laxity and firmness

    • Refine skin texture and tone

    • Tighten the skin around the eyes and face

    • Restore thickness and elasticity to thinning or crepey skin

Laser eyelid rejuvenation can also be performed during the same session, making it a compelling alternative for patients seeking improvement around the eyes without surgical intervention.

  • The treatment begins with a deep cleanse and the application of topical anaesthetic. Additional nerve blocks or local injections may be used to maximise comfort. After approximately 45 minutes of preparation, protective eye shields are placed and treatment begins.

The procedure involves a controlled ablation of the skin’s outer layers using a high-intensity laser. It penetrates to the reticular dermis and simultaneously heats deeper tissue to stimulate new collagen production.

Most full-face treatments last about 45 minutes. Patients often describe the sensation as a prickly heat or burning, and we can tailor laser intensity to your comfort and skin type. The skin will appear raw, red, and swollen immediately afterward, similar to a strong sunburn.

Once treatment concludes, a medical-grade barrier cream is applied to promote healing and prevent infection.

    • Smoother, tighter, and brighter skin

    • Immediate visual improvement once healing begins

    • Significant reduction in wrinkles, laxity, and pigmentation

    • Natural collagen regeneration for ongoing skin enhancement

    • Long-lasting effects that can endure for several years with proper care

While initial healing takes 9–10 days, residual redness may persist for several weeks. Light makeup can be used once the skin has re-epithelialised. Gentle skincare and strict sun protection are essential to maintain and enhance results.

Fully ablative laser resurfacing is particularly effective in fairer skin types, while tailored, lighter protocols are recommended for darker complexions to avoid pigmentation risks.
