Overview

Skin Quality Injectables Overview

Skin quality enhancement injectables are a category of regenerative treatments designed to improve the underlying health, structure and resilience of your skin rather than altering its shape. Unlike traditional fillers that add volume, these biostimulators work with your skin's biology to rebuild collagen, restore hydration and improve elasticity from within.

At The Ghanem Clinic, we offer two leading skin quality treatments, Polynucleotides and Profhilo, both delivered by experienced medical practitioners following a personalised consultation. The result is firmer, more luminous skin that looks healthier, not "done".

Choosing Skin Quality Injectables

These treatments suit patients noticing fine lines, dullness, dehydration, loss of elasticity, or early signs of crepiness in delicate areas like the neck, under-eyes and décolletage. They are also widely chosen as preparation ahead of laser resurfacing or other aesthetic procedures, and pair well with anti-wrinkle injections for a fully refined result.

Skin Quality Injectables vs. Dermal Fillers

The two categories are often confused but do very different things. Dermal fillers add volume to restore contour and structure. Skin quality injectables remodel the skin itself, improving hydration, firmness and texture without changing facial shape. Many patients use both in combination for a result that addresses both volume loss and skin quality.

Polynucleotide skin rejuvenation

Polynucleotide Rejuvenation

A regenerative boost for tired, damaged or ageing skin

What It Treats

Polynucleotide injections are ideal for skin showing signs of fatigue, dehydration or early ageing, including fine lines, dullness, loss of elasticity, and scarring. The treatment is particularly effective for:

  • Smoothing shallow wrinkles
  • Improving skin quality and hydration
  • Reducing the appearance of scarring
  • Enhancing delicate areas like the neck, décolletage and under-eyes
  • Preparing the skin for lasers or other aesthetic procedures

How It Works

Polynucleotides are naturally derived molecules found in DNA that support cell regeneration and skin repair. Injected into the skin, they activate fibroblasts and stem cells to boost collagen production, deeply hydrate, and neutralise free radicals, restoring elasticity, brightness, and skin health over time.

The Treatment

After assessing your skin, your practitioner selects the appropriate formulation (PDRN Medium or Strong). The skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream may be applied. Using either microinjections or a cannula, the polynucleotide solution is gently administered into targeted areas. The procedure typically lasts 20–40 minutes and is well tolerated with minimal discomfort. Mild redness or swelling may occur but usually fades within hours.

Results

Initial improvements in hydration and texture may be visible shortly after treatment. The real transformation unfolds over several weeks as new collagen forms and cellular repair is activated, with optimal results appearing 6–8 weeks after your first session. A course of treatments is often recommended for cumulative, longer-lasting benefits.

Profhilo skin remodelling

Profhilo Skin Remodelling

A next-generation injectable that deeply hydrates and rejuvenates

What It Treats

Profhilo is ideal for skin that feels dull, crepey, tired or dehydrated, with visible loss of firmness or elasticity. It is particularly well suited to delicate or hard-to-treat areas where traditional fillers are less appropriate, including:

  • The neck and jawline
  • The hands
  • The forehead
  • The décolletage
  • The face for an overall radiance boost

How It Works

Profhilo is a next-generation injectable that works differently from traditional fillers. It contains a highly concentrated, stabilised form of hyaluronic acid that spreads smoothly beneath the skin, attracting water and stimulating the production of four types of collagen and elastin. Rather than volumising, it remodels and improves skin quality, enhancing hydration, tone, elasticity and firmness from within.

The Treatment

Profhilo is administered via small injections into five strategic Bio-Aesthetic Points (BAPs) on each side of the face, carefully selected for optimal diffusion and natural-looking results. The treatment takes 15–30 minutes. A numbing cream may be applied beforehand, but discomfort is minimal. Most patients resume normal activities shortly after.

Results

Many patients notice improvements in skin texture and hydration within days of the first session. Over the following weeks, collagen and elastin production are stimulated, leading to visibly firmer, smoother and more radiant skin. The recommended protocol is two sessions one month apart, with results continuing to develop for up to 8 weeks. Maintenance treatments every 6–9 months help sustain results.

Your Treatment Journey

Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a private consultation at our Wimpole Street clinic. Your practitioner assesses your skin quality, hydration, elasticity and overall concerns to determine whether Polynucleotides, Profhilo, or a combined approach is right for you.

Personalised Plan

Based on your assessment, a tailored plan is created, identifying the right product, treatment area, number of sessions and intervals between appointments. Any complementary treatments are discussed at this stage.

The Treatment

The skin is cleansed, and a topical numbing cream is applied where required. Your practitioner administers the chosen injectable using a fine needle or cannula, with most sessions completed in 15–40 minutes depending on the treatment.

Aftercare and Review

You receive personalised aftercare guidance to support optimal recovery. Follow-up sessions are scheduled at the right intervals to build cumulative results, with reviews to monitor progress and refine your plan as needed.

The Treatment

The appointment takes 15–40 minutes. After cleansing and applying a topical anaesthetic, your practitioner delivers the injections. Discomfort is minimal and most patients describe it as a brief pinching sensation.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Polynucleotides and Profhilo?

Both treatments improve skin quality without adding volume, but through different mechanisms. Polynucleotides use DNA-derived molecules to activate cellular regeneration and repair damaged skin, making them particularly effective for scarring and tired, damaged skin. Profhilo uses high-concentration hyaluronic acid to remodel the skin from within, ideal for hydration, firmness and crepey areas. Your practitioner will recommend the right option during your consultation.

Will skin quality injectables change my appearance?

No. Unlike dermal fillers, these treatments do not add volume or alter facial structure. They improve the underlying health of your skin, so the change is in quality, firmness and radiance, not shape.

How long do results last?

Profhilo results typically last 6 to 9 months, with maintenance treatments at that interval helping to sustain outcomes. Polynucleotide results vary based on the protocol but generally last 6 to 12 months with a course of sessions.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal. You can return to work and most activities immediately. Mild redness, swelling or small bumps at injection sites are common but usually settle within a few hours.

Can these treatments be combined with other injectables?

Yes. Skin quality injectables are frequently combined with anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers to create a fully harmonised result that addresses expression lines, volume loss and skin quality together.

Are skin quality injectables painful?

Most patients describe brief pinching sensations rather than pain. A topical numbing cream is typically applied before treatment to optimise comfort.
